Moment Theatre Collective is a Montreal theatre company built around one idea: the stage should be open.
We build welcoming, low-barrier spaces where performers, directors, and writers can develop and share new work, and where audiences can discover it. No résumé required. No gatekeeping. Just people who want to make theatre, and a community ready to receive it.

Each MTC festival has its own format and scope, but the commitment is constant: low-barrier projects where local artists can try new ideas, meet collaborators, and share new work with an audience. No long-running commitments, no insider networks required.

Mission Statement
Accessible theatre — for both sides of the stage.
For audiences, that means affordable tickets, welcoming rooms, and work that speaks to the community. For artists, it means a low barrier of entry: a place where emerging and established creators can develop ideas, find collaborators, and put work in front of people — without needing a grant, an agent, or a long résumé.
We believe the stage should be a place anyone can step onto. We exist to make that possible.
Our values
MTC is an entirely volunteer organization. Our creative directors, board members, and festival staff contribute their time and expertise without pay. We do this because we believe in the work, not because there is money in it.
We exist to support performers, writers, and directors — not to profit from them. There are no application fees and no production fees. Artists who work with us keep their creative work; we provide the infrastructure.

The team
Danielle Davidson
Creative Director
Danielle is a performing artist, director, and producer who works primarily in experimental and collaborative improvised dance and theater. She's worked as an arts administrator, educator, consultant, choreographer, performer, producer, and director for over 20 years. Her experience spans North America, including the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, AS220, and Bridge Repertory Theater. She serves as the creative director for Moment Theatre Collective.
Heidi Hawkins
Creative Director
Heidi Hawkins is a director, actor, and acting coach with over 20 years of experience in theatre, film, television, and voice. She focuses her work on the craft, discipline, and electricity of live performance.
She's passionate about working with artists at every stage, from emerging creators to seasoned professionals. Heidi uses a collaborative, actor-centered approach that values rigorous text work, bold creative choices, and rehearsal rooms built on trust and curiosity.
She loves developing original texts and works closely with writers and performers to dramaturge and shape new work. Heidi believes theatre should feel alive, immediate, and engaging. She's a graduate of the Professional Theatre Program at John Abbott College.
Colin Nash
Founder, Festival Director
Colin Nash is a multidisciplinary creator who blends the performing arts with organizational leadership. He spent more than a decade as a professional actor in Toronto’s film, television, and theater scenes. After leading high-growth teams in the startup world, Colin founded Moment Theatre Collective to bring these two worlds together. He focuses on creating a structured, experimental environment for Montreal artists.
